Great duplcate of my childhood versionApr 27, 2008
By Thule1 This product is exactly like the version I had when a child some 50 years ago. Good quality production and a simple pleasant pastime for 2-4 players. I ordered it for a person who had a stroke and is unable to handle complicated games. This version of Parcheesi is much superior to the currently marketed other versions that I consider "junk" quality. Vendor was very prompt in delivery.

thrilling and every exciting - suspense as wellAug 25, 2008
By nicky With this game, you can be winning one minute and be last place a few turns later. Sometimes it is like you just started the game and are 20 minutes into it. There is some strategy and some luck but lots of laughs.
I like to buy extra dice so everyone has a set.
We added a few interesting things to it... such as when someone goes into home, everyone holds their hands up and yells 'parcheesi'. Usually it is a happy time, but we sometimes yell it sarcastically - which is also fun. RULES: There are lots of rules, be sure to read them all. We played as kids and now as an adult we found a paragraph that we didn't know, which made the game far more interesting. They aren't that difficult to understand.
The thing is, it is an enjoyable game that anyone in the family can play. Add your own twists to the game - a bell for sorry (Carol Burnett Show- Eunice) or the yelling parcheesi. What ever makes the game more fun...
I played it at relatives and otehrwise havent' played it in years, so I am getting another while they are available.
Doubles: If you roll a double you get to move the number on TOP of the dice as well as the number on the BOTTOM. No matter what they are they always add up to 14. You must take all 14 spaces or forfeit all 14. These can be taken in parts - 6,1,6,1 or 5,2,5,2 or 4,3,4,3 . This makes the possibilities endless, becase you can actually land on more than one opponent in the process. You also get to roll again. If you roll doubles three times, the third time you have to send one of your own pieces that is closest to home back to the beginning - even if it is in the red zone one space from home... too bad. Liek I say, it is a great game, far more fun than Monopoly or Sorry.
Landing on an opponent not only sends him back to his starting point, but gives you an additional 20 spaces with any one man. If you can't use it, it is forfeited as well. Entering any man into HOME, give you an additional 10 spaces.
These add up quickly, but also push you around the board and in front of competition and possibly you get sent back in the process.

Great for the FamilyApr 16, 2009
By S. Baker I had this game as a child and I loved it then. I'm so happy I found it on Amazon. We play it as a family and I find I still like it as an adult. We have three teenage sons and they like to play too. It's a game that has a lot of strategy to it so it is challenging and fun. Easy to play and seems very durable.

favorite from childhoodFeb 13, 2010
By Suzy Slim This game is one I played in my youth, doesn't require a computer to enjoy and can be played with 2 to 4 people of most any age. The kids I gave it to fell in love with it immediately (ages 5 to 40something) and spent a delightful afternoon honing their skills at making the best moves to bring their pawns "home". I highly recommend this for family enjoyment. The quality is high for all parts and should last many years if not abused.

Great GiftJan 30, 2010
By Jeannie I bought this as a gift for my morhter-in-law's birthday. She had been looking for it in stores and couldn't find it anywhere. She was so happy to receive this and invited everyone at the party to stop by and play Parcheesi with her sometime. It reminded all of us of playing this as children.
