5Best decision I've made in a whileDec 31, 2010
By Delaney
My son has spatial dyslexia and enjoys building with legos. He really likes to get the sets, but I find that I do most of the building and he does most of the fretting because he can't see what he needs to do.

So I skipped the sets for Christmas and bought him two large sets of just legos. He opened them and shrugged. We moved them into a large flat rectangular rubbermaid tote and his eyes gleamed. He went onto the sun porch on the wood floor, and went to building. He built cars, rockets, planes, houses and forts for four hours. Add a few minifigures to his lego bucket and I have one contented kid.

This was a terrific decision. Since then friends and family have seen the buckets of legos and have opted for the free play lego sets. It really is worth it. The sets are magnificent, but if your child is like mine and won't dismantle a made lego set this is a great way to put the creative play back in the mix.

My son is 9.

4Good, simple funSep 06, 2011
By Mr. Wilson
My three boys (4, 5, 8) have been playing with my old Lego collection for quite some time. I had a lot of pieces, but many of them are specialty pieces that are hard to integrate in simple, every day play. Also, most of the directions to my sets have disappeared over the years.

I purchased this tub (along with LEGO® Bricks & More Builders of Tomorrow Set 6177) to increase the ratio of "plain" pieces in our collection. The boys were ecstatic when I presented it to them. Every day their faces beam when they show me their latest creations. Sometimes they use the included instructions to guide their building, but most of the time they follow only their imaginations. Our basement floor currently features a fire station; a McDonald's; a bike shop; a house; and a boat.

Lego Bricks are unfortunately very pricey. I cringed when paying for this. But the pain goes away when you think about just how much value comes from this unassuming tub of plastic bits. My boys have logged several extra hours of electronics-free playtime since we introduced these new pieces. Over time they'll log many, many more. And as my 20+ year old Lego collection proves, these things survive.

5Lego Deluxe setJan 16, 2011
By Papa Rick
Couldn't tell from the pictures, looked like just a big set of Legos (not a bad thing). Turned out to be a great addition to my grand daughter's Lego collection, some really unique parts. She loves to build stuff with her dad, perfect gift. Legos are great for getting the imagination going.

4Good but not big pieces.Jan 31, 2011

I love legos. This set is a great starter set. The only down side is that there is not enough big pieces. Other than that it is a great product.

3Legos are wonderful but so many tiny bits counted in that 700!Nov 03, 2011
By D. Roitt Jr. "cleoandbuffy"
The bucket only is about 1/3 full and most of the peices are soooo tiny wheels axils.. hair, heads.. tiny dots... ).. there are a lot of peices and legos are always fun for the kids.. but i could EASLIY fit another compleate set inside this bucket! was expecting more of the larger things for my kids... the intention was to share it with 2 kids...
