By Pooped Out Mommy We purchased this kit about 4 years ago and have now tie dyed hundreds of shirts, and taught virtually every kid in the neighborhood how to. The dyes are very permanent (not like supermarket dye), and the bottles are durable and can be used over and over. Someone else complained that there is not enough soda ash to complete multiple jobs... You can always use Arm & Hammer washing soda, and this can be purchased in the laundry isle at the supermarket.

Jaquard Tie Dye KitJun 27, 2009

This product is the best tie dye kit I've used! The color stays vibrant, my kid's made t-shirts over a year ago and the color looks new! You can also wash the shirts with the regular laundry and not worry the other clothes will become tie dye too! The squeeze bottles for the dye are a great way to help control the application of color. This is the kit I will continue to use for tie dye.

A blast from the bast for kids of all ages!Sep 12, 2009
By Thomas Mitchell You do around 15 adult size shirts out of this kit. My friends and their kids visited and I thought this would be a great summer activity. It was. The kids and adults had fun and the shirts came out great.
Although their are written instructions, you will need to watch the video to get the details. Be sure to watch it in advance. You don't want to be starting, with everyone's energy level high with excitement... and then have to watch the video. Everyone does not need to watch it. I was the only one who watched it (a couple days in advance) and was able to easily guide everyone.
Make sure you do inject dye into the creases of the rubber banded shirts. Otherwise you will have too much white space. One last recommendation: rubber bands are included, but by a whole bunch of different colored rubber bands so you can remember whose shirt is whose (or belongs to what family). When you let them sit and then wash them, they get all grouped together and mixed up.
Great kit and I've ordered two more. This is a new fourth of July tradition.

kids loved itJun 20, 2009
By J. Johnson I used this kit one year with my special ed. kids. It was enough for all the students to do a shirt. The colors were great, much better than using the Rit dyes. A couple kids' shirts shrank. I wasn't sure if it was the shirts or the hot water.
I'd get this kit to do a tie dye project again.

excellent starter kitApr 29, 2010

We purchased this kit to fulfill the "artistic" flair of our 12 y/o son. It makes for an excellent starter kit; the DVD video is informative and demonstrates a variety of pattern making strategies, and the dyes are the primary colors so they can combined to make whatever color you'd like. Despite best efforts it's a pretty messy process -- do it on a large sheet of plastic next to a sink -- but worthwhile. The end product is great, and it seems nearly impossible to screw up. One piece of advice: squirt on plenty of dye else you end up with lots of uncolored spots. While it will only produce about 10 shirts, how many do you need? The alternative is to watch tie-dye instructional videos on youtube and purchase the Jacquard dyes separately; probably a next step for us for more colors.
