Excellent for toddlersJun 17, 2007
By Mouse my 3 year old loves these books, she says "look mommy, magic"!
Because they only color on the special paper you don't have to worry about stains on the furniture, clothes etc. and no surprise drawing on the walls!
The only thing I dislike about these is the price, they are too expensive, my daughter colors all the pages in 2-3 days. It's also hard to find just the books without the markers, we have about 30 markers now, it would be nice if crayola would take this into consideration and start selling just the books and lower the price too. $[...]. for a 20pg coloring book a little ridiculous. After a few days the colored pictures smudge and fade as well.
Other than this these books are fun, it's pretty cool to see the unexpected pictures show up. My daughter really gets a kick out of the "magic pictures"

disappointing colouring experienceFeb 17, 2011
By funmum I purchased the colour wonder colouring book for my 2 and half year old son because he loves the movie cars, and he enjoys colouring, so I thought this would be the perfect gift, because it's non messy, and I wouldn't have to worry about him getting ink all over things that shouldn't get coloured. I found it disappointing for a number of reasons.
Firstly, the concept of the ink only appearing once it's been applied to the colour wonder page is a good one, but it takes nearly 10 seconds before the colour begins to appear on the page after it's been applied, it takes several more seconds for it to reach it's ultimate colour intensity, which isn't very bright. Because it took so long for the colour to appear, my son didn't get that gratification that toddlers expect when the apply a crayon or marker on the page and see a nice bright colour appear where they've marked. He didn't enjoy playing with it for that reason. He kept drawing the marker on the page, and when nothing happened he became disinterested.
Also, I found that the images on the colouring pages were too similar to one another - not enough variety - it's the same three or four "hot rods" over and over again, with Lightning McQueen thrown in occasionally.
Even thought the non messy colouring concept is a good one, I wasn't impressed with the results of the markers, and neither was my son. Perhaps he is too young for it, but even I didn't enjoy colouring the pages with these markers, and I still love to colour! I think washable markers which make nice bright colours on the page are better than these colour wonder markers, even with the oportunities for mess.

Great option for CLEAN coloring!Dec 30, 2009
By T. Kirby My son was very excited about the Cars coloring book, which we took on a cross-country drive with us. It was great to know that my son could color and not have to worry about other parts of the car or himself getting marked on. I was under the impression that there were "set" colors for different areas on the paper, that would just appear when the marker was used on it. However, it is a really neat design, which allows the child to color any color on any part of the page, just as with crayons or regular markers. The only negative I saw was that sometimes when my son would color over the same spot a lot, it seems to erase itself...however, he doesn't seem to notice or mind. Great product overall!

a big disappointment for preschoolerNov 14, 2009
By LoveToGlitter Maybe these markers would be of interest to children older than preschool or kindergarten---but our grandson (and we, his grandparents) found these markers to be very frustrating and ultimately boring; unable to maintain interest long enough for the colors to appear! It was actually painful to watch our grandson have to wait for the color every time he used a marker. Maybe older children would find this novel and interesting, but I suspect the novelty would soon wear off for them too. Our grandson very quickly went back to his regular non-toxic markers and crayons to use on the "Cars" special coloring book that came with it. It was expensive and a waste of money. I can't recommend this for anyone of any age.
Just a bunch of ricer cars with a few McQueen'sMay 07, 2011

I got this for my son, since he loves the Cars movie. Pretty disappointed in the fact it's a bunch of ricer cars, and a few of lightning McQueen. No other characters from the movie are featured!
